Shauna & Chris – The day she thought would never come.

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

I have known Shauna and Chris for at least 7 years, Shauna was a co-worker of my wife. I still remember Shauna saying years ago she would never get married and I would always say “never say never”. I had seen Chris and Shauna together and knew it was only a matter of time. On October 11,2008 at West Haven Golf & Country Club here in London, Ontario my prediction came true and I was lucky enough to be there to capture all the fun.

Shauna and Chris are the kind of couple every wedding photographer wants. Very cool, laid back and willing to do anything for a good picture. I am quite convinced that if i had asked them to walk out into the middle of traffic they would have as long as it produced a good image. Also, Shauna just may be my very first Trash the Dress bride, but she has her mind set on water so i think we better wait time summer. I’m all for artist renderings of reality, but a blue bride shivering in between ice flows at Port Stanley may be going a little to far…On second thought, that just may be kinda cool, hmmm.

Now that the day has come and gone I started thinking, I never did to gloat about being right…To bad, I’ll just have to make up for that when I deliver Shauna’s pictures.

And talking about pictures, here are some hi lights from the big day, I really hope you enjoy them!

Stalkers Wanted

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

The one thing wedding photographers love is stalkers fans. These days it’s very easy for people to follow your every move and I am more then happy to give my fans the tools to follow everything I am doing. Up top in the links bar you will see a link category full of links to ways you can see what I’m up to (if you are so inclined that is).

Contact me:

A simple contact sheet for all your questions, complaints or messages about how much you love/hate my work. If you don’t like email and prefer taking the more direct route, my phone number is on there as well.

Twitter:

If you have yet to hear about Twitter, it is a mini blogging service that limits you to 140 characters to say what you are doing. Once you start following people you will get short updates about what they are up to at the time of their message. I use Twitter when I want to say something, but it’s not involved enough to merit a blog post. Give it a try, it’s free, it’s addictive and you can get tons of information… But, don’t forget to follow me!

Flickr:

Not every picture I take will make it into a post here on the blog or into my portfolio. If you are interested in seeing everything I make available for the internet my Flickr stream is the place to go.

FaceBook:

I LOVE friends on FaceBook! I clearly don’t have enough. Another good reason for befriending me on FaceBook is everything I do on Twitter, here on the blog and what I upload to Flickr shows up in my FaceBook feed. So if you really don’t feel like checking out Twitter or heading over to Flickr, you can just friend me up on FaceBook and let all that info come to you.

Friendfeed:

Ok, so you don’t have a FaceBook account and you are not interested in getting a FaceBook account, but you still want to keep up on everything? Well then head on over to Friendfeed. Again, just like FaceBook, everything I do on Twitter, the blog, FaceBook and Flickr is added to my feed.

So with so many ways to follow me one must ask “Why aren’t you?”.

Beauty and the Beast

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

Last Sunday I had a chance to help out Ned Mansour of Beautifoto Photography. Ned is from Montreal and was covering Muna and Ali’s Wedding, he was in need of some help and I just had to step up for the job. I always believe in helping out another photographer when ever I can, I have gotten lots of help in the past (I’m still getting help) so I like to play it forward. As an added bonus, Ned really knows his lighting and I was looking forward to picking up some new tricks with the strobes.

Muna and Ali’s wedding was the first Arabic event I have ever covered and one I will never forget. They both had great friends and family and let me tell ya, they know how to celebrate! It was a long day full of great photographic opportunities and by the end of it I was both tired and pleased that i had been a part of a spectacular day…………….not to mention the great tips I picked up from Ned.

PS, The title “Beauty and the beast”…Beauty, Beautifofto…I’m the beast…Get it? Ya I know, lame!

It’s all over Man!!!!

Friday, December 26th, 2008

That’s right folks, it’s all over! Another Christmas session is in the bag. It’s time to take that tree to the curlcurb (or stuff under the stairs if you’re the plastic type), pull out the ladder to yank down those lights and start getting the aspirin read for New Years day.

In the mean time there are always the memories and nothing makes for good memories like the kids…well isn’t Christmas really all about the kids? Myself, I have two little devils angels to help cheer up the photo books.

Every year on Christmas eve we pack up the kids and the presents to head over to the wife’s parents house to exchange gifts and generally trash the place. The kids always get super hyper like someone spiked their juice with pure, uncut sugar and just dig into the rapping paper while the grown up sit back with their alcoholic beverage of choice and try to stay out of their way.

This year I decided to take along the camera and try to capture some of the chaos that is Christmas eve at grandmas. Being in the middle of the wedding reception dance floor is one thing, but you don’t want to be lying on the floor between a 4 year old and his Christmas gift! At a wedding reception the guests say “excuse me” and try to stay out of the shot, a 4 year old with his eye on a present will just go right through you whether or not you are their dad.

Well all the scraps and bruises have started to stop throbbing, so I thought it would be cool to share some of the images I was able to snap before I had to run for my life.

I hope you enjoy them!

Hello, Welcome to my world!

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

In this evolving universe we call WWW, being able to talk back is becoming very important to a large majority of users online. In the world of wedding photography, getting to know the photographer is as important as knowing the quality of his work.

With all that in mind I have decided to start this Blog (I really dislike that word for some reason). My hopes are that by sharing my experiences, stories and life as well as my work, you will get to know me better before you hit that contact link to book a date with me. I don’t want to only sell you something or talk at you, I want to interact. On a egotistical level I want fans and there is no better way to get fans then getting them to like you.

So I hope you enjoy my work, ramblings and the odd bits of wisdom (don’t expect much of that) I will be sharing in the coming times. If not, tell me, god knows I need the feed back!
