Engagement: Chantal & Josh
Wednesday, November 11th, 2009I’d really like to know what goes through my head sometimes. For some reason i always find myself sitting at the computer till 3 in the morning doing up a post. I had every intention of just editing and going to bed like any other sane, rational person would if they had to wake at 5:30 am.
This time though, I do have an excuse…
Last month I headed out to Grand Bend to photograph Chantal and Josh’s engagement session. I was really looking forward to working with these guys, they are such a laid back, super cool couple.
We did a little tour around the Grand Bend area hitting the beach, a farmers field, the local drive-in and ending the trip at Chantal’s parents house in the country. Both the ceremony and the reception are to be held here (have I said how much I love outdoor weddings yet?) and I am super excited for their wedding day after seeing this amazing chunk of land. Fake outhouses, rusted old Ford pickups and paths through a huge garden all add up to photo nirvana.
It was a complete pleasure to hang out with the both of them and if you enjoy the pictures even a quarter as much as I did taking them then I did my job……..
Cheers!
Bayfield Wedding – Ashley & David
Thursday, October 22nd, 2009I am getting more then my fair share of awesome clients, Ashley and David fit in perfectly with my streak of killer couples.
Between their ready smiles, laid back style and amazing families…Their day was truly a photographer’s wet dream. The only regret I have coming out of David and Ashley’s wedding day is the fact we never had the chance to do an engagement session, I would have loved to get to know them a little better.
It was tough picking just a small number of images for this post. With all the tears, laughter and an appearance of a Dutch bicycle I got a lot of great shots…But in the end I had to settled on 29 images. So without further ado, may a I present a view into Ashley and David’s new beginnings.

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009Photo shoot with @projectarctic (It’s a Twitter thing)
Saturday, October 17th, 2009Back in May I featured the band Arctic out of British Columbia. Afterward I started chatting with them via Twitter and I offered to shoot them if they were ever in the area. Last month they got a hold of me and let me know that they were playing the Phog Lounge in Windsor. Always loving a road trip, I jumped in the car and headed down to have a little fun.
Now, I am no band photographer…Nor do I want to be. However, I do truly believe that every once in a while you should get out of your comfort zone and try something new. I’m use to dealing with singles and couples when it comes to photography. If I ever deal with larger groups, like in a family session, I tend to try a more candid approach and capture “day in the life” moments. When it comes to music photography that really doesn’t fit. So, leaning on my skills posing wedding parties and doing a lot of research with music magazines and CD covers, I headed out to see what I could do.
Between being booted from a private road by a very polite federal officer, walking through grass that purportedly is home to rattle snakes (that’s what the sign said) and meeting the cutest dog on the face of the planet, I had the time of my life with these guys and gal. Now if they would only come to the London area on a day when I can go check them out…What’s with bands playing London during the week? Have they not heard of a thing called the WEEKEND?
Check out Arctic and send them some love on Twitter, Facebook and don’t forget to stop by their website http://www.projectarctic.com/
Featured on Rock n Roll Bride
Monday, October 5th, 2009I’ve always loved the style over at Rock’n Roll Bride. Kat, the rock’n beauty behind RnR has a real eye for talent and knows what she likes. So it was a real honor to be one of her features. You can see the post here and while you are there check out all the other superb images on the site.
Thanks again Kat
Arianne and Erik
Thursday, October 1st, 2009Killer couple + classic car / great location = one amazing engagement session!
It’s always good when you get a killer couple, a couple that is laid back, not afraid of the camera and is willing to work with you on what ever comes into your head. But, when Erik and Arianne pulled up in a 1970 Karmann Ghia and a 1964 Ford Mustang I was happier then a kid starring at the gate to Disney World.
Port Stanley Wedding – Sarah & Dane
Monday, September 28th, 2009Like I said in Sarah and Dane’s engagement post, Sarah was one of the coolest chicks I Knew from school. Dane is no square (Yeah, that’s right! I said square…so shoot me!) either making them a perfect pair. So it only stands to reason that they would have a killer wedding that completely reflects their view on life.
I guess I could have summed up the whole wedding with “It was a cottage party interrupted by a ceremony”, but that really wouldn’t do the day justice in the least. So, to give you all a look into the details of this amazing day, I’ll let my pictures do the talking.
Enjoy!

Sunday, September 20th, 2009Chelsea
Sunday, September 13th, 2009Today I hit the park with the boys, the wife was out and it was just me and the little terrors. I was trying to figure out what to do with them when my chain of thought had me thinking about my niece Chelsea and how I have yet to get her in front of my camera. How I have yet to do so is beyond me seeing how she is such a little cutie. So I thought today would be the day to rectify this oversight as well as get the boys some time with their aunt Becky.
I called up my sister which happens to live by the kids favorite park and arranged to meet up with her and Chelsea. One thing I found quite amusing was that Chelsea insisted on wearing certain clothes and having her hair exactly how she wanted it. When my sister informed me of this little act of will I was kinda nervous seeing how a child of her age would dress themselves if given the chance. My eldest Logan when given the decision still decides on his Spiderman underwear….and only the underwear…
But, I guess my concerns were a waste of emotional energy because as it turns out my little niece has a real eye for fashion, I couldn’t have picked out a better outfit…But then again I’m a 34 y/o dad, what do I know of girls fashions :-/
To add to Chelsea keen sense of fashion, she is also a great little model! I have said that some of the kids I have worked with were naturals, but I have worked with grown up “models” that didn’t pose or take direction as well as my little niece. She has a great attitude that leaks out in these pictures that I got. It’s safe to say that this is no where near the last time Chelsea will be in front of my lens.
Oh…and Mom, I’m email you link ASAP
