Real quick….Cans for Comments is going amazingly well and I want to thank everyone for showing the love and helping out by leaving their kind words. It is only day 4 and at last count we are looking at 18 comments…Don’t forget to check out the Cans for Comments post and help out all the other great shooters taking part in C4C
I have actually teased you a few time with pictures of Kaily and TJ. First it was with some fun iPhone shots and then with their Instax Sneak Peek. This time it’s for real people!
I was REALLY looking forward to shooting with Kaily and TJ. Like I have mentioned before, I work with Kaily’s dad at the dreaded day job and TJ use to work their as well. These two are a classic couple, both extremely cool and with a real style all their own. Have you ever meet one of those couples that just seem like they have been together for like 50 years and are still in total love? Well that’s TJ and Kaily. Watching them during the shoot as well as at a few of Kaily’s old man’s parties, I have seen the love in their eyes. The way Kaily gives TJ the “LOOK” when he does something especially goofy…..or the “What did I do?” expression TJ gets after seeing that “LOOK”. They are a great couple, I had a killer time with them on this shoot and I’m super psyched about their wedding day.

I like to believe when I first met Katie and Deryk, we just clicked…..I would say that they would agree seeing that they signed me on the spot! Katie completely won me over when she announced that besides the wedding dress the photography was number 2 on her list of priorities at the wedding. I would have liked being number one, but hey, EVERYTHING comes second to the dress!
A few Sundays ago I got together with Katie and Deryk to take a little tour around the country side. Katie had all the locations lined up and to tell you the truth, I couldn’t have picked better locations myself. It would also appear that my luck with weather also extends to peoples health. Katie emailed me about a week before our session saying that they may have to reschedule because she was fighting a nasty bug. I really don’t know if it was my luck or if Katie is just that tough, but come our shoot date Katie was good to go. Either way, were cranked out some great shots in my opinion and with Katie and Deryk’s wedding in June, it’s looking like 2010 is going to be an amazing year!

Last week I picked up a little addition to my equipment arsenal, a Fujifilm Instax 200 (think modern Polaroid). I’ve never been a huge instant photography fan, but after seeing what the Instax turns out I became very interested.
Earlier today I was in Cambridge to shoot Kaily and TJ’s engagement session and the new member of the family tagged along to play. I absolutely love the results and thought they would be perfect for Kaily and TJ’s sneak peek post.
Stay tuned for the rest of the session coming soon.

Last Sunday I got to spend the afternoon with Katie & Deryk…..I’m enjoying being a tease with these sneak peeks so I thought I would continue the trend with Katie and Deryk’s engagement.
Stay tuned for the rest.

I’d really like to know what goes through my head sometimes. For some reason i always find myself sitting at the computer till 3 in the morning doing up a post. I had every intention of just editing and going to bed like any other sane, rational person would if they had to wake at 5:30 am.
This time though, I do have an excuse…
Last month I headed out to Grand Bend to photograph Chantal and Josh’s engagement session. I was really looking forward to working with these guys, they are such a laid back, super cool couple.
We did a little tour around the Grand Bend area hitting the beach, a farmers field, the local drive-in and ending the trip at Chantal’s parents house in the country. Both the ceremony and the reception are to be held here (have I said how much I love outdoor weddings yet?) and I am super excited for their wedding day after seeing this amazing chunk of land. Fake outhouses, rusted old Ford pickups and paths through a huge garden all add up to photo nirvana.
It was a complete pleasure to hang out with the both of them and if you enjoy the pictures even a quarter as much as I did taking them then I did my job……..
Cheers!

Back in May I featured the band Arctic out of British Columbia. Afterward I started chatting with them via Twitter and I offered to shoot them if they were ever in the area. Last month they got a hold of me and let me know that they were playing the Phog Lounge in Windsor. Always loving a road trip, I jumped in the car and headed down to have a little fun.
Now, I am no band photographer…Nor do I want to be. However, I do truly believe that every once in a while you should get out of your comfort zone and try something new. I’m use to dealing with singles and couples when it comes to photography. If I ever deal with larger groups, like in a family session, I tend to try a more candid approach and capture “day in the life” moments. When it comes to music photography that really doesn’t fit. So, leaning on my skills posing wedding parties and doing a lot of research with music magazines and CD covers, I headed out to see what I could do.
Between being booted from a private road by a very polite federal officer, walking through grass that purportedly is home to rattle snakes (that’s what the sign said) and meeting the cutest dog on the face of the planet, I had the time of my life with these guys and gal. Now if they would only come to the London area on a day when I can go check them out…What’s with bands playing London during the week? Have they not heard of a thing called the WEEKEND?

Check out Arctic and send them some love on Twitter, Facebook and don’t forget to stop by their website http://www.projectarctic.com/

Killer couple + classic car / great location = one amazing engagement session!
It’s always good when you get a killer couple, a couple that is laid back, not afraid of the camera and is willing to work with you on what ever comes into your head. But, when Erik and Arianne pulled up in a 1970 Karmann Ghia and a 1964 Ford Mustang I was happier then a kid starring at the gate to Disney World.

Today I hit the park with the boys, the wife was out and it was just me and the little terrors. I was trying to figure out what to do with them when my chain of thought had me thinking about my niece Chelsea and how I have yet to get her in front of my camera. How I have yet to do so is beyond me seeing how she is such a little cutie. So I thought today would be the day to rectify this oversight as well as get the boys some time with their aunt Becky.
I called up my sister which happens to live by the kids favorite park and arranged to meet up with her and Chelsea. One thing I found quite amusing was that Chelsea insisted on wearing certain clothes and having her hair exactly how she wanted it. When my sister informed me of this little act of will I was kinda nervous seeing how a child of her age would dress themselves if given the chance. My eldest Logan when given the decision still decides on his Spiderman underwear….and only the underwear…
But, I guess my concerns were a waste of emotional energy because as it turns out my little niece has a real eye for fashion, I couldn’t have picked out a better outfit…But then again I’m a 34 y/o dad, what do I know of girls fashions :-/
To add to Chelsea keen sense of fashion, she is also a great little model! I have said that some of the kids I have worked with were naturals, but I have worked with grown up “models” that didn’t pose or take direction as well as my little niece. She has a great attitude that leaks out in these pictures that I got. It’s safe to say that this is no where near the last time Chelsea will be in front of my lens.
Oh…and Mom, I’m email you link ASAP

I don’t know about you, but I have never been a fan of maternity photography. It seemed like someone set down some ground rules and everyone just followed them. Personal I hate (strong word I know but…) the “Heart Hands” over the stomach, the block letters, the kissing of the belly and I can’t even look at Tulle any more!
But not all is lost! I have run across a few photographers that have taken the whole maternity session and gone lifestyle/editorial. It’s these photographers I have taken after when I have done my (very few) maternity sessions and Tanya is my latest.
Tanya is a natural at this whole picture taking thing, I hardly had to give her much direction which is a huge plus for me and the images. I am always worry about dealing with expecting mothers, with Tanya I was constantly asking “You OK?”, “How you doing”, “You getting tired?”. I actually think it may have been a little annoying for her lol. All things turned out and Tanya put up with me and my worrying long enough to get some killer shots, I’m really starting to enjoy this maternity thing!
